Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan are Live with Governor Newsom to talk about California’s response to the COVID-19 outbreak and the efforts to surge healthcare across the state.

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan are stepping up to battle the coronavirus pandemic through their charitable group, The Chan-Zuckerberg Initiative. They announced plans to partner with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, “contributing $25 million with Gates and others” to begin exploring possible COVID-19 treatments. The sit down with Gayle King to talk about their effort as well as how they themselves are impacted by the virus.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) in California

COVID-19 is a new illness that can affect your lungs and airways. It’s caused by a virus called coronavirus.

Stay home except for essential needs

Everyone is required to stay home except to get food, care for a relative or friend, get necessary health care, or go to an essential job. If you go out, keep at least 6 feet of distance.

  •  Stay home
  •  Avoid people outside your household
  •  Wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
  •  Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue
  •  Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
  •  Maintain a safe social distance of 6 feet whenever outside of the house


  •  Leave the house except for essential activities
  •  Shake hands
  •  Touch your face
  •  Go to the doctor if you aren’t sick
  •  Stockpile masks or gloves
